The first Puerto Rico film Los Peloteros was shot in 1953 by Jack Delano and was based on a real story of poor boys who organized a baseball team. Now this film is considered as classic of the Puerto Rico movies. There were a number of movies filmed in Puerto Rico by Americans directors, such as Woody Allen's Bananas (1971), A Show of Force (1990), Contact (1997) by Robert Zemeckis, Amistad (1997) by Steven Spielberg. In the 2000s lots of movies in Puerto Rico were shot. The famous one is Maldeamores (2007) by Benicio del Toro - Puerto Rican actor and film producer. He has starred in few movies made in Puerto Rico. Now film making industry in Puerto Rico increases its high level. In 2008 the film Talento de barrio directed by José Iván Santiago became a Puerto Rican blockbuster which was screened all around the world and pumped up the interest to movies from Puerto Rico.
